We mentioned a couple of days ago that Party City is carrying the licensed American McGee’s Alice adult costume.  We have also been informed that BuyCostumes.Com is carrying it, too, as well as Halloween Express and Yandy.Com.  It’s always good to have options, of course…

And it’s always good to have plenty of time to prepare for such awesomeness as is the annual All Souls’ Day, also known as Samhain, Hallowe’en, Trick-or-Treat Day, and International Gimme Candy Night.  (And given the overall spookiness that is associated with the last pagan harvest festival, we’re also struck with an overwhelming sense of irony that this post is being made on Friday the 13th, which is another story entirely.)

We thought it might be wise to give you a little peek into what we’ll be doing for Halloween this year.  We have, on occasion, run some costume contests, and with the amazing growth and expansion that we’ve had in our community, we imagine that running that same kind of thing this year is going to be absolutely awesome.

Here are the categories:

  • Alice – We’re looking for a veritable army of Alices, the more, the merrier.  Of these Alices, those who are the closest to the original (which our experience says will be a lot) will be in a drawing for a prize.  The most original interpretations will also be graded.  We appreciate your creativity!
  • The Hatter and other characters – Again, we’ll be looking for “closest to original” as well as “most creative interpretation”
  • Inspired Themes – Costumes that aren’t quite any characters from AMA, but are still inspired by the game and story.
  • Other Awesome Things – We’re totally equal-opportunity, so if you want to send in your costumes that have nothing to do with Alice but are still fabulous, we’ll let you.  Categories will include Horror, Funny, Artistic, and whatever else crops up that seems appropriate.

Prizes:

  • In all honesty, we haven’t decided on prizes yet.  All participants will receive a badge in their forum accounts (you ARE on the forum, right?), and those badges might just have something to do with the ARG.  Or maybe not.  (How could it not, really?)
  • Top-tier and grand-prize winners will be featured in a community page here and on the Facebook page.

How to enter:

  • Don’t you worry your sweet little heads about that just yet.  We don’t normally open up submissions until about mid-September, so you still have plenty of time to get your costumes together.  At that point, a full list of official rules and terms will be posted, and then we’ll go from there.

Ready, set, SEW!  Or glue.  Or whatever.  I’m sure there will be plenty of discussion about that in the forum, too.  You lovelies are a clever, clever lot.
