The 2011 Spicy Horse Costume Contest
on October 11th, 2011 at 10:00 amThe time has come, once again, for the Annual Costume Contest. With the release of our own Alice: Madness Returns this year, we imagine that there will be a very impressive show of creativity this year.
There are some differences from last year, however.
First, this is a US-and-Canada only contest. We are getting with our international partners to provide contests in other countries, so stay tuned as we finalize those details for you.
Second, there are THREE categories – the Game-Derived Contest, the Army of Alices, and the Special Alice Contest. The Game-Derived costumes are all of the Spicy Horse related outfits not of Alice, and this does include Grimm and our other titles. We’ll even let you submit something from Scrapland or Bad Day L.A. The Army of Alices is a random drawing, so please, only one submission per person. The Special Alice costumes are for any and all of the versions of Alice specifically from Alice: Madness Returns. The Game-Derived and Special Alice contests can entertain more than one submission from a person, but not the same costume more than once.
The Spicy Horse staff will vote on the best costumes in the first part, and the Viewers’ Choice award will be a public vote.
Go here to submit your entry. Remember that the entries are sorted by our trusty band of platypi and that the system is not automated. You know how they feel about duplicity.
Ready, set, sew!

Does the person wearing the costume have to be 18? I’m dressing my three yr old up as Alice this year for Halloween.
Um… If you can send in a picture with YOU in it as well, then yes, I’ll allow that.
Do you win anything? Or it’s a just for fun to see if you can win sort of contest?
Good question. Yes, you do. (I knew I forgot something…)
I’m under eighteen and I’m planning to enter this contest. If I were to get parental permission, would that work as a special case or do I have to have one of my parents in the picture with me?
We’ll have to have a parents’ permission form digitally signed.
Thank you.
I’m sorry if I’m being a bit dense, but can you define the Army of Alices and the Special Alices a bit more clearly?
Is the Army of Alices any Alices? Does the Special Alices include Alice’s regular outfit for A:MR?
Thanks
The Army of Alices refers to Alice’s regular blue-dress costume, the most commonly seen. The Special Alices are any of the Alice outfits that are *not* the normal costume.
So when does the contest end?
Hi! Sorry if I’m missing this someplace, but when is the deadline for entries?
It’s on the Contest Page – Nov. 7th.
Do the entries have to be just a view of all the angles of the costume, or can they be taken from a photoshoot type setting?
There are some places near my house I’m just itching to get near with my camera and my dress.
Artistic license is completely acceptable, as long as we can see the costume in some fashion or another. (Pun totally intended.)
would a costume design drawn on paper be acceptable? or does it actually have to be a person wearing a costume?
No, it has to be an actual, for-real, worn-by-a-person costume. Otherwise, it would just be fan art, and that’s a whole different contest.
cool… like it..
OH ILL TRY TO TOP IT!
does the special alice contest include the costumes like the hattress or late but lucky?
Yes, any of Alice’s variations count.
That is one amazing Cheshire Cat costume! I’d like to share it on Twitter, but I don’t want to link directly to the image, as that was abuse of your bandwidth. How do you suggest I proceed? Thanks.
I’m in the same poisition as Mallory, that is, I am under eighteen but wish to enter, so how would I go about obtaining that digital parent permission form?
Email me at alice3omega at gmail dot com for a permission slip.
Does it have to be a hand-made costume? I have the official costume (Leg Avenue), so I wanted to check before wasting anyone’s time.
The Leg Avenue costume can be entered into the Army of Alice.
is there a prize?
When will the winner be announced?
Just looking for confirmation my entry as the mad hatter was recieved and is valid, lot of work went into it, hoping to impress =7! I can also supply many more photos upon request. Excited to see what everyone else came up with this year! Thanks!
does the person who makes it have to wear it or can it be worn by someone else because i didnt have the money to make it in my size so i made it in my sisters size (shes 19)
