Grimm episodes just keep coming. Welcome to Episode 5, “The Girl Without Hands”. Based on a twisted tale of fatherly betrayal, Satanic tom foolery, and a good amount of hand choppery (is that a word?), “No Hands” as we like to call it here at Spicy Horse, is a fun romp in the world of Grimm.
The Guardian is running an interview with yours truly, where I talk about Grimm, games, inspirations, and getting “jacked in” to some form of digital alternate reality. I make mention of “The Matrix”, but have to say I’d much rather live in the VR of “Snowcrash”. Check it out.
Grimm just keeps getting better. Each new episode contains more interesting game play, better integration of narrative into game play elements, more challenge, more humor, and cooler art. Part of this is a result of the internal evolution of the game as we develop it. And part of it results from listening to feedback from the player community. This is the great promise of episodic game development: Content delivered on a consistent schedule, in an easily consumable format, and integrating audience feedback in an organic, evolutionary production process.
I love the gas crunch - it’s forcing the world to look at alternative methods for energy generation and transportation. And I really love electric vehicles - especially electric motorcycles and scooters. Stuff like this super fast, super performance dirt bike really turns me on: Two Wheels, Zero Emissions and Loads of Fun. Instead of [...]
Another week, another episode of Grimm! This time around Grimm visits the well-known tale of “Puss in Boots” - to ridicule the idea that an intelligent, talking cat would be selfless servant to a bumbling imbecile. Click the cat to read more…
A few days ago we added a puppy to the household. You can see her picture here. Now, I wouldn’t normally choose something so tiny, cute, and cuddly as a baby Chihuahua to be a pet - I prefer dog eating lizards - but even I have to admit she’s quite charming. Only problem is: [...]
I read on Develop Magazine this morning of some non-movement with the lawsuit brought against Epic by Silicon Knights. Seems we need reassuring that “something will happen”.
After a whole entire WEEK of waiting, Episode 3 is here at last! Amazing how that works, isn’t it? And, best of all, many new game play elements are featured in this episode. See how that works? Ask and you shall receive!
Read this morning: Gamasutra - EA Partners Inks Publishing Deal With Epic, Grasshopper Exciting news: EA Partners will publish a new “action-horror” title, produced by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and directed by renowned designer Goichi “Suda51″ Suda, of Killer 7 (pictured) and No More Heroes fame. Cool!
I’m excited to announce that Grimm is now officially available via alternate distribution and download channels (well, one “channel” as of this morning, but more to come). For those of you unable to download from GameTap, please go check out the Grimm, “A Boy Learns What Fear Is” bundled together with “Little Red Riding Hood” available on TryGames.
Episode 2 is OUT NOW and available for free during the first 24 hours! Go check it out on GameTap. This week: Red Riding Hood
Grimm Episode 1 has launched on GameTap! For me and the team here at Spicy Horse this is a momentous occasion. Everything we’ve worked for and built since starting the studio has gone into the Grimm project - and Episode 1 is the first of many offerings to an audience we hope will enjoy the game as much as we enjoyed making it.
Nearly two years ago I made some pretty bold statements regarding the Next-Gen Console Wars - asserting that Nintendo’s Wii would dominate, and was the only platform that should be called “next-gen”.
A trailer and a review for Episode 1 of Grimm both available today! The trailer looks cool and the review is extremely positive. Read more…
If you’ve never seen “Dexter”, I highly recommend it. And now news of an episodic game based on the show:
Episodic ‘Dexter’ Game for iPhones
Players will reportedly use gesture controls (Ecko demonstrated a hacking motion with an iPhone), text messaging and phone calls to interact with the “Dexter” experience, but Ecko didn’t reveal anything more, nor [...]
News from GameDaily this morning: Today, Gamecock Media announced that it has signed a partnership with GameTap. Under terms of this agreement, the publisher’s various titles will be available for digital download in GameTap’s online store, as well as for ad-supported play and subscription. Future titles, including Legendary and Velvet Assassin, will also be made [...]
From GameDaily today: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced their intention to publish an episodic game series based upon the upcoming Watchmen film. The game will go into more detail on the characters and so-called “masks” of the film. Watchmen is a comic story originally created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, where the world [...]
I read on Video Game News this morning that GameTap has added a ton of cool new titles to their service - these coming from THQ.
Two awesome websites go live today: The Official GameTap “American McGee’s Grimm” site, and the Spicy Horse Games’ “Grimm” site.
Kotaku says: Grimm has a great, simple graphical style but don’t let that make you think it’s a game for kids. This is a very twisted world and the game will have an M rating. The humor is quite black and may have some players scratching their heads but those of you with a sick sense of humor will absolutely love it.
