Insane Children’s 2021 Calendar – Crowd Design Proof

Dear Insane Children,

Alex sent along a proof version of the Insane Children’s 2021 Calendar (see attached PDF).

Have a look at this and let us know in the comments below if you find any ERRORS or PROBLEMS that need fixing. We’re NOT adding more creative/ideas to the design at this point. In that respect, what you see is what you get. But I wanted to get your eyes on this to help make sure there are no mistakes that need fixing before this is sent off for printing.

Of this version, Alex says:

12 months, with a cover and a rear cover with small previews of the contents.

I’ve designed the calendar printed single sided (assumed that was the set-up).

Only a few Alice themed days as requested, and all Lunar cycles are typeset.

I’ve also had to reshuffle or use some other artwork selections, as the list from top to bottom either didn’t fit very well within the ratio and size for the artwork on the calendars.
If you have any specific requests, easy enough to swap the artwork out.

I’ve made a balance between calendar day size, and a large enough area for the artwork based on your sketch Martin.

Any smaller, and the days are less than 15mm high, which is already tiny within the size requested.

Keep those notes in mind while completing your proofreading mission.

On Pricing and Availability

The factory in Beijing, the same one that produced the excellent “The Art Of: Alice Madness Returns (Chinese Edition)”, has informed us that in the time since they provided their initial price quote, the cost of manufacturing has increased … so they will be giving us another quote next week.

And shipping this calendar will cost around $10USD to “normal” places and more as the destination becomes more “exotic.”

So I’d like to price this at $35 (including shipping) – In other words, it’s a $25 Calendar with worldwide shipping (with tracking) included. I think $25 for a high-quality calendar is pretty normal, right?

There’s no easy way to make this a “be at X Tier” type of reward on Patreon (yes, we can create a new Tier but we’ve previously found that generates a LOT of headaches and confusion). OR we could use the Backerkit shop thing but those guys seem to have vanished from the face of the planet so…

I was thinking we could add it to the Mysterious Shop and provide our Insane Children with a secret Discount Code that brings your cost to the $35 level. Maybe make that available for 2 months?

I hate to talk money stuff like this but manufacturing costs and shipping costs are significant… and it’s better to be clear about the challenges than beat around the bush.

So, let me know in the comments below your thoughts on this question.

From Shanghai with Love,
