GameTap Adds THQ Titles

I read on Video Game News this morning that GameTap has added a ton of cool new titles to their service - these coming from THQ.

Grimm Sites Go Live

Two awesome websites go live today: The Official GameTap “American McGee’s Grimm” site, and the Spicy Horse Games’ “Grimm” site.

Our Man Tyler

“Captive Audience” doesn’t cover it.

It’s always exciting at this time of year as we watch the fun unfold at 2008’s E3. I mentioned a couple of days ago that Grimm was mentioned as part of the gallery of awesome art work in the In the Pixel exhibition, but now we’re once again having one [...]

In the Pixel, it’s the Bomb

he haz a sad

If you remember the Ars Technica article from June 13th, you’ll remember that they loved our artwork. In fact, one of the things that is setting Grimm apart from most other games is its uniquely stylized presentation. “It’s the Unreal 3 Engine, but you’d never know it from the style…” [...]

Gamasutra Talks to Rick Sanchez

Mmmm… burgers…

Gamasutra has a great line in their description of Grimm, and it’s one I wish I’d written myself (it’s so cute):
“… In between those tellings is an unexpectedly gameplay-driven experience that is reminiscent of Katamari Damacy in its dynamic - except, instead of rolling a ball around, you are (apparently) peeing on things and [...]

Two New Mentions

Squiggy-squiggy-squiggy…

The media response (as we’ve mentioned before) has been enormously positive, and as we inch closer and closer to the release date, we’re bound to see more stories hitting the wires. Try to visit these awesome folks to let THEM know that you’re interested in the game, too, and they’ll be much more inclined [...]

Kotaku: Grimm’s “Clever, fun, twisted”

Kotaku says: Grimm has a great, simple graphical style but don’t let that make you think it’s a game for kids. This is a very twisted world and the game will have an M rating. The humor is quite black and may have some players scratching their heads but those of you with a sick sense of humor will absolutely love it.

2404 - Grimm Interview

Recently I did an interview with Gareth Von Kallenbach over at “2404 - PC Gaming”. We talked about Grimm’s game play, challenges faced during development, and the episodic model production and distribution model.

GameInformer Grimm Preview, Q&A

Screenshot from Red Riding Hood

Jeff Cork over at GameInformer has a nice preview of Grimm along with a quick Q&A session where myself and Ken Wong answer a few questions. A preview of the preview article:
Playing as a horrible little dwarf named Grimm, players run around a fairy-tale land and ruin everything in [...]

1up has 1st Grimm Preview

Grimm on the 1up frontpage

Friday the 13th is an appropriate day for the 1st-ever preview of “Grimm” to be released. Head over to 1up.com to read the preview, check out new screenshots, and best of all - see game play videos! The preview takes a look at an episode based on “The Boy Who [...]

Destructiod: Grimm has “delightful” Intro Song

Destructoid says: “I might not be the biggest American McGee fan, but I can never pass up a good videogame intro song. Needless to say, the opening number for American McGee’s Grimm does not fail on that front.” Check out the article, and the song HERE.

Exclusive Grimm Trailer/Intro at IGN

The Meat Box!

IGN is hosting a bunch of cool new Grimm content: videos, images, and screenshots!
In the videos you can see the latest Grimm trailer and the intro cinematic that starts each new episode. The intro cinematic has a great little song to go along with it, sung by Grimm himself. And the [...]

Grimm Up(chucks) on Console

Grimm “on” the PS3

Grimm’s making #3 on the PS3! It’s a sign of affection, trust me. You really don’t want to know how he displays his love towards the 360. Regardless of how he’s expressing his feelings towards either platform, we’re excited to announce that he is in fact playable on both.
I make [...]

Gamer’s Magazine Interview

I did an interview with Mexican gaming magazine “Gamer’s Magazine”. In it I speak of Grimm, Red, and socks in my mouth. Tequila!

Countdown to Episode 1

I placed a countdown clock on the site to track the number of days until the release of “Grimm” Episode 1. July 31 2008 EST is the official time set by Gametap. Be sure to check the Gametap Grimm Site for updates in the coming weeks.

The Beginning of the End

Matthew Razak over at That Video Game Blog revealed in a post today that the new episodic game Penny Arcade Adventures has set a record for being the highest grossing debut of an Xbox Live Arcade game. The article says:
It must be good to be the PA guys. Not only are they basically nerd [...]

Three Interviews And A Lion

Interviews galore this morning! First there’s one over at NextGen where I talk about Grimm, episodic gaming, and the future of Spicy Horse:
“My hope is that we can maintain a diverse development plan and ability–creating more episodic content, traditional console titles, and games specific to the Asian market,” said McGee. “Episodic content, or whatever [...]

First True Episodic

The guys over at Penny Arcade have been producing some of game industry’s funniest and most revealing web comics since before I can remember. I’ve always been a huge fan, but that didn’t stop me from being completely unaware of their involvement in the creation of a new game concept - an episodic one to [...]

Grimm Key Image

I’ve posted a clean version of the image that inspired the Grimm billboard on my flickr account.

Bone Boy

The general rule for showing Grimm concept artwork to the world is to show images only when there’s a light/dark version side-by-side. But with this image I’m willing to make an exception:

This is “Bone Boy”. He appears in a number of Grimm episodes, usually as the darkened state for child NPCs. He’s one of my [...]
