Depression Ahead But It’s Still Progress

Dear Insane Children,

We’re back from our road trip to Yan’s hometown. All the extended family got together to play with Lucky, eat yummy local food, and spend time together. It was a nice break from the daily bustle of life in Shanghai. Here’s Lucky with his Great-Grandfather.

While we were away the team continued to work on concept art for Alice: Asylum with an emphasis on The Chess Realm.

And our 3D/environment team is making progress on the 3D model of Asylum Alice along with the Burnt House environment. Expect to show off that stuff during the Live Stream later this week. Speaking of burnt houses…

We’re also doing some work on line of plush toys called “Plushie Dreadfuls” that will launch at Mysterious soon. My hope is that these will inspire your friends to say, “What’s wrong with your toy?”

Meet “Bearfisted Bear” and “Pig in Wolf” (Pig in Wolf needs a better name… ideas?)

And we’ve re-added some art prints from Alice: Otherlands to the Art Section of the Mysterious shop…

The one place where we’re NOT making much progress these days is on Business Development for Alice: Asylum.

Why is that?

Well, it’s Summer Vacation time in the places where most of our conversations and negotiations are taking place (ie the EU). As such, we won’t hear much on this front until early September. But just prior to the break there was a BIG CHANGE in some of the talks… which does a Two Steps Forward, One Step Back kind of thing to our progress. But it also puts us back on an Original Path so…

I wish I didn’t have to be so cryptic about all of this!

As part of recent happenings, I was once again bound not to discuss in public any of the stuff going on. Sigh.

But what I can say is that once the vacation period has ended we will be in a position to continue making forward progress… and in a better direction than we had been heading previously.

Is it Summer Vacation wherever in the world you are? A lot of people are unaware of just how seriously the EU takes this vacation period!

We’ll discuss all of this and more during the Live Stream later this week. I look forward to chatting with you all during that time. Got questions, feedback, or suggestions? Leave them in the Comments below.
